Just across the water from Ball Gag Bay, you’ll find the contemplative, soothing peace of Bondage Island. Rock spires scatter the landscape, giving the perfect structure for the denizens of the island to practice their arts. Many find their way to the Island in their quest to learn more of the great art of bondage, and The Sailor is happy to share the benefit of their skills with anyone who asks, through teaching of knots and materials as well as the wisdom of the best ways a rope bottom can remain tied for as long as possible. If you have ever thought about the dangerously beautiful heights of places like Suspended Peak, you should start with the basic skills that The Sailor teaches here.
The Sailor was a picture of perfect focus, muscles flexing and shifting in concentrated silence, even to tie this simple series of knots. They tested each knot carefully, pulling colored silk to just-so tautness making art of the woman who strained prettily to hold the graceful arches into which The Sailor had willed her limbs. The students watched with their best attempts at mimicry of The Sailor’s focus. The Sailor tied one last knot, then nodded in satisfaction with their work. They leaned down to press a gentle kiss on the extended throat of the bottom before turning back to the rapt attention of their students, a new strand of silk in their calloused hand. “Who can tell me which knot to use here?”
Bondage Island Quests
Interest in Bondage Island
To claim this quest:
Bondage Island is more like a monastery than it is a playground, beneath the stern but gentle tutelage of The Sailor. It’s easy to want to skip the basics and vault straight to the more interesting looking lands of predicament bondage and suspension, but there is a special kind of meditative bliss in learning the basics of bondage (and The Sailor would remind us that safety is on the line.) If you’re interested in starting your journey into bondage, wherever your end goal might be, Bondage Island is the place to start.
Grasshopper’s First Knot
To claim this quest:
The Sailor will tell you that every journey starts with the first knot. This is more than just tying someone to something. There are a vast array of knots to learn – pick one that you like and practice it until it becomes second nature – until it settles into muscle memory and you could do it with your eyes closed. Learn how the rope moves, how it feels in your hands (or on your body, if you are a bottom) and when you know it well enough that even The Sailor would be impressed, you can claim this achievement.
Tied Down
To claim this quest:
While there are many reasons to be drawn to the art of bondage, a common one is the blissful abandon of restraint. Tie your partner down to a bed, a chair (a rock spire if you are on Bondage Island) and play with the sensation of restraining and being restrained to claim this achievement.
Wrap It Up
To claim this quest:
Rope has its charms, but some situations call for something with a little more give – something that will wrap tight and hold immediately. For those situations, you have options. If you’re in a hurry and low on supplies, give the kitchen a quick once-over in search of some cling wrap. If you are a little more prepared, you might have a roll of bondage tape. Whatever you use, if the game involves wrapping and pulling rather than knotting or buckling, you can claim this quest!
Classic Columns
To claim this quest:
If you are looking to follow in The Sailor’s footsteps and graduate to more complex rope bondage, some early practice that will be really useful is to practice and master single and double column ties. The Sailor uses them every day, and can tie a willful student to a chair, quicker than they can say “Sit Still.” Check the Resources section for more detail, but The Sailor likes this site for a good illustrated starting point! You know how The Sailor can be about practice though, so it’s not enough to tie a single or double column tie, to earn this quest, you need to tie them over and over again, until you can do it without looking at the instructions!
Proper Equipment
To claim this quest:
The Sailor is a big fan of rope, but that doesn’t mean they can’t appreciate the simplicity and elegance of a buckle or snap fastening. There are lots of options to choose from, from classic wrist and ankle cuffs, to more complex equipment like harnesses and monogloves. In short, if you make use of gear that is built to hold part of the body in place, with buckles or other fastening mechanisms, you can claim this quest!
The Falconer
To claim this quest:
Bondage Island is far enough out to see that you won’t find any falcons or hawks out among its rocky spires. Still, The Falconer is a good friend of The Sailor and visits often, though he brings no birds of prey on his shoulder. Bottoms can get skittish, just like birds of prey, and can benefit greatly from the soothing silence of a blindfold or hood. Or perhaps they don’t find it soothing at all, but inspiring terror is the game of the day. Either way, if you follow The Falconer’s lead, you can claim this quest.
